Today in adorable queer celebrity news: Bella Ramsey and My Old Ass star Maisy Stella appear to have hard-launched their relationship.

Stella also took to her Instagram Story to wish Ramsey a happy birthday, sharing a photo of the actor with a red heart emoji and writing, “Beautiful beautiful beautiful, happy birthday the coolest, comfiest, most wonderful human imaginable.”

This apparent couple announcement comes after plenty of fan speculation that the two young stars were dating after they began regularly commenting on each other’s Instagram posts and Ramsey began frequently appearing on Stella’s Instagram Stories. But that didn’t mean that people were any less excited to get official confirmation.
“Bella Ramsey and Maisy Stella are so cute I’m crying,” one fan tweeted.
“BELLA RAMSEY AND MAISY STELLA I HAVE NO ONE TO TALK [TO] ABOUT THIS,” another X user wrote.
Ramsey, who received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for their performance as Ellie in HBO’s survival drama The Last of Us, previously opened up about their sexuality in a 2023 British Vogue interview, describing themself as “not 100%straight.”
“I’m a little bit wavy, you know?” Ramsey said at the time. “That’s what I like to say.”
Although the first season of The Last of Us included a flashback episode detailing Ellie’s ill-fated first love with her childhood best friend Riley (played by Storm Reid), Season 2 is set to focus on the character’s relationship with her girlfriend Dina (played by Isabela Merced).
“[Ellie’s queerness] means so much to me,” Ramsey told Them in 2022. “[...] It’s been helpful for me… and I hope it will continue to resonate with people, [both with] people who can relate directly with those characters, who are queer themselves, and people who aren’t. I just hope that it makes people feel things and think about their relationships.”
