Queer people will always find a reason to throw on a jaw-dropping look — and what better reason to get all dolled up than the Emmys 2024 red carpet? As all manner of LGBTQ+ stars pulled up to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles for Television’s Biggest Night, we were treated to an array of incredible styles that, naturally, stole all the attention from everyone else.
Whether it was the night’s co-host Dan Levy in a windswept Loewe look or Reservation Dogs star Devery Jacobs in a classic white suit accented by fluffy white tulle, LGBTQ+ talent arrived to the carpet ready to work. While some stars, like Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Kristen Kish, looked dapper by keeping it clean and simple, others went full-tilt, bringing a full fantasy to the proceedings. Alan Cumming, who took home his first Emmy last weekend for Outstanding Host of a Reality Competition Program (unseating reigning champ RuPaul in the process), wowed with a black kilt and flowing tartan shirt that draped around his shoulder and arm. Laverne Cox, who was holding it down as E!’s red carpet host, gave the fashion aficionados something to gag over by casually stepping out in a striking vintage Alexander McQueen gown.
And just look at the sprawling cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16, who all hit the carpet with their own unique, signature styles, from Plane Jane using a skimpy red dress to show off her exaggeratedly voluptuous proportions or Nymphia Wind looking like an extraterrestrial banana with a quirky alien costume that came complete with full face-covering.
