Donald Trump must be clutching his pearls somewhere after Sabrina Carpenter kissed an alien on live television during the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards last night — and probably a transgender one at that!
Amid her VMAs medley of summer hits, Carpenter’s performance of “Espresso” featured a dancing crew of astronauts and aliens that culminated in a steamy smooch between the pop star and a particularly femme extraterrestrial background dancer. Given that the presidential debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris was a mere 24 hours ago, people on social media immediately made the connection between Carpenter’s otherworldly kiss and Trump’s incoherent outburst that “illegal aliens” were getting “transgender operations” in prison. The out-of-this world performance is just in a week’s work for the pop star. Just a week ago, Carpenter made headlines with another very gay kiss, making out with actress Jenna Ortega in the music video for “Taste.” That lip-locking session officially sent sapphic Twitter into a panic. If she keeps it up at this rate, her next queer-coded performance will launch us into orbit.
