Welcome to your Queer Weekly Horoscope, a bite-sized look at the coming days broken down by your zodiac sign.

Libra Season is fully underway, and it’s kicking off with a major week for introspection!

First up, motivating Mars joins forces with responsible Saturn to set the mood for serious organization, and the Sun gets chatty with Mercury, which immediately turns around and starts yapping with shadow ruler Lilith. The New Moon in Libra brings a big new beginning, joining forces with Lilith and the South Node to block out the Sun in an annular solar eclipse that inspires a period of deep reminiscence. Since the Moon is so far from Earth, hanging way out with Lilith during the time of eclipse, a ring of visible Sun remains present to help us maintain some self-awareness throughout the long Wednesday afternoon of pondering.

After the eclipse wraps, the Sun doubles down on the compulsion toward self-contemplation in partnership with Lilith. Then, Venus develops a longing for the ordered discipline of Saturn and helps to launch us into a productive weekend. But in the earliest hours of Sunday morning, Mercury fights with Mars, and none of us will be in the mood to talk about what we’re up to.

Libra’s up first for this weekly horoscope, then we’ll scroll through the zodiac wheel until we address every sign! If you know more of your placements than your Sun Sign alone (Moon, Rising, Mars, etc.), check their entries as well to get a full picture of your astrological forecast.

Libra
What the stars are up to:
  • The Sun, Mercury, Lilith, and the South Node are in your sign.
  • Your sign ruler Venus is in Scorpio.
  • The New Moon in your sign passes through conjunction with the Sun and Lilith, blocking the Sun from Earth in an annular solar eclipse. The Moon passes through conjunction with Mercury, squares off against Mars and Pluto, and creates a trine with Jupiter.
  • The Sun passes through conjunction with Mercury and Lilith.
  • Mercury passes through conjunction with Lilith and squares off against Mars.
  • Venus creates a trine with Saturn.
What it means:

Wake up babe, New Moon annular solar eclipse in conjunction with the Sun, Lilith, and the South Node just dropped!

Shadow ruler Lilith and the South Node of history aren’t actually bodies in space, but specific points of the Moon’s orbit. (Lilith is the farthest point of the Moon’s orbit from Earth, and the South Node is the place where the Moon crosses the ecliptic plane to descend into the “lower” half of its path around the Earth.) Because the Moon is very far away from Earth, hanging with Lilith when it crosses the South Node and blocks the light of the Sun from view, it’s perspectively too small to fully cover the Sun. Instead, the way-out Moon creates a beautiful annular solar eclipse where a brilliant band of Sun is visible around the outer edges of the Moon, lookin’ sort of like Sauron’s One Ring to Rule Them All glowing up there in the sky.

Astrologically, solar eclipses signify big new beginnings. Lilith represents your dark side, the South Node is all about your past, the Moon governs emotion, and the Sun rules your ego. So! When all of this goes down, you’re sitting in a deeply self-interested, reminiscent kind of mindset. Your feelings loom large enough to nearly overwhelm you, but thanks to Lilith’s ferocious defense, your sense of self-awareness is too huge to be utterly obscured. You’ll maintain some consciousness of your self-perception and appearance to others throughout the onslaught of Big Feels, instead of surrendering fully to an ugly-crying instance of ego death. This limits your vulnerability, but the experience will still be enlightening and will serve as the dawn of a new personal era. Where you choose to take it from there is up to you.

One thing’s for sure: you’ll definitely yap your way through the whole thing! Mercury’s presence in your sign means you’ll most likely verbally process every emotion in real time as the eclipse occurs.

Scorpio
What the stars are up to:
  • Venus is in your sign.
  • Your sign ruler Pluto is retrograde in Capricorn.
  • Venus creates a trine with Saturn.
  • The waxing crescent Moon in your sign creates trines with Saturn, Mars, and Neptune; passes through conjunction with Venus; opposes Uranus; and forms a sextile with Pluto.
What it means:

You emerge from the solar eclipse with a relentless ambition for self-organization. Playtime’s over; it’s time to get your act together! The no-nonsense Moon in your sign has no time for disruptive experimentation, but puts you in an energetic, idealistic mindset to focus on making serious life changes.

Sagittarius
What the stars are up to:
  • Your sign ruler Jupiter is in Gemini.
  • At the end of the week, the waxing crescent Moon travels to your sign.
What it means:

After all the drama of the preceding week, you’re left holding the hot potato of the Moon on Sunday evening. Your sign ruler Jupiter is posted up opposite your own position in your sibling sign, Gemini, which may leave you feeling distant from your signature good luck during the emotional epiphany of the solar eclipse. Fortunately you have a great relationship with Gemini, so you know you’ll ultimately land on your feet, even if you feel a little chaotic in the meantime.

Capricorn
What the stars are up to:
  • Pluto is retrograde in your sign.
  • Your sign ruler Saturn is retrograde in Pisces.
  • Mars creates a trine with Saturn.
  • Venus creates a trine with Saturn.
What it means:

Well, well, would you look at that? It’s a winning week for Capricorn! The rulers of action and desire both smile at your sign ruler Saturn. This is a good week to get your life in order and resolve outstanding problems, or to enjoy some great sex. Why not both?

Aquarius
What the stars are up to:
  • Your sign ruler Uranus is retrograde in Taurus.
What it means:

You’ve been in an oddball phase of soul-exploration for some time now and some years left to come, perpetually wandering the Earth in search of understanding.

Admission: When I wrote the above sentence, I accidentally mistyped “soul-exploration” as “soil-exploration.” I’m not sure if that’s my subconscious being punny about your sign ruler Uranus’s present occupancy of fixed earth sign Taurus, or a cosmic clue that you need to re-pot your houseplants. Could be worth checking in on your ficus.

Anyway! Pay attention to messages from your own hindbrain during this week’s solar eclipse. It will let you know if you need to keep walking at this point, or if it’s time to take a pause, dig into your current location, and get your hands a bit dirty.

Pisces
What the stars are up to:
  • Saturn and your ruler Neptune are both retrograde in your sign.
What it means:

You’ve got big responsibilities and big feelings on your hands. While your ruler Neptune is retrograde, your famous powers of intuition feel a little flimsier than usual, and you may feel somewhat adrift in the current of life. Consider slightly loosening your grasp on your burdens. You don’t want to cast your obligations away to float off without you, but important responsibilities are capable of waiting while you navigate the river without you needing to clutch them desperately in a fearful death grip.

Aries
What the stars are up to:
  • Chiron and the North Node are retrograde in your sign. (The North Node is always generally retrograde, that’s normal.)
  • Your sign ruler Mars is in Cancer.
  • Mars creates a trine with Saturn.
  • Mercury squares off against Mars.
What it means:

You’re strong enough to feel your feelings. You’re prepared to do something about your feelings. But you’re not prepared to talk about these feelings — at least not yet! Stick to action for the moment and let the emotions marinate in the back of your mind. Don’t try to force any words out before they’re ready. Eventually your swirling thoughts will settle into a coherent structure — maybe by sometime next week — and then you’ll be able to articulate yourself to others.

Taurus
What the stars are up to:
  • Uranus is retrograde in your sign.
  • Your sign ruler Venus is in Scorpio.
  • Venus creates a trine with Saturn.
What it means:

Your weekend is for organization and order. Maybe that means rearranging your living space, but it could also refer to your Baldur’s Gate 3 Traveller’s Chest, your bookshelf, or your mind itself. You’re definitely tidying up something after the solar eclipse! If you feel a strange compulsion to arrange your underwear drawer by color and style, give in and do it. Otherwise you’ll suffer the pain of a thwarted desire, a longing like unto unrequited love, and for what purpose? Just ride the unexpected urge to clean as far as it takes you, and be at peace.

Gemini
What the stars are up to:
  • Jupiter is in your sign.
  • Your sign ruler Mercury is in Libra.
  • The Sun passes through conjunction with Mercury.
  • Mercury passes through conjunction with Lilith and squares off against Mars.
What it means:

You’re set to walk deep into the darkest part of your soul and sit there for a while. You need to spend some time talking to the void and seeing what it says back to you. Social plans are canceled and action is off the table until you’re finished communing with the shadows. Try to arrive at an understanding with the parts of your heart you usually don’t look at, and then you’ll feel whole enough to safely step back out into the light.

Cancer
What the stars are up to:
  • Mars is in your sign.
  • Mars creates a trine with Saturn.
  • Your sign ruler the Moon travels through Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius.
  • The New Moon in Libra passes through conjunction with the Sun and Lilith, blocking the Sun from Earth in an annular solar eclipse.
What it means:

Assertive Mars creates a cooperative trine with responsible Saturn, and you’re ready to head into battle — just in time for the annular solar eclipse! Your ruler the Moon is way out at the farthest point of its path around the Earth and headed down south to the lower half of its orbit when the New Moon aligns with the Sun to create the eclipse. You are more powerful than anyone else in the zodiac this week when your sign ruler bodily blocks the Sun in a temporary triumph of emotions over ego. Pay close attention to the message of the eclipse! You’re on the verge of entering a major new era.

Leo
What the stars are up to:
  • Your sign ruler the Sun is in Libra.
  • The Sun passes through conjunction with Mercury and Lilith.
  • The New Moon in Libra passes through conjunction with the Sun and Lilith, blocking the Sun from Earth in an annular solar eclipse.
What it means:

You, meanwhile, are in for a dark night of the soul. (Really more like a temporarily dimmed afternoon of the soul, but you get the idea.) But it’s not so bad! Mercury and Lilith support your sign ruler, the Sun, to talk and walk you through the New Moon and annular solar eclipse. During the eclipse, your sense of self isn’t completely subsumed by emotion. You still remain fiery, bright, and self-possessed around the edges. When the shadow passes, you’ll be prepared to start on a brand-new stage of life.

Virgo
What the stars are up to:
  • Your sign ruler Mercury is in Libra.
  • The Sun passes through conjunction with Mercury.
  • The waning crescent Moon in your sign opposes Saturn and Neptune, forms a sextile with Mars, squares off against Jupiter, and creates trines with Uranus and Pluto.
  • Mercury passes through conjunction with Lilith and squares off against Mars.
What it means:

Your sign ruler Mercury is tight with the Sun, New Moon, and shadow ruler Lilith this week. This ain’t the time to talk about action. Instead, your week is all about introspection! Before the annular solar eclipse in Libra, the Moon in your sign preps you for a massive emotional shift. Flawless timing! You’ll experience epiphany during the day of shadow, then emerge from the other side as the freshest new version of yourself.
